Have a question in mind? Please use specific key words to
search the website or read on below in our FAQs.

Absolutely, this is the most common question I get asked and this is the reason many people are afraid of doing yoga.

Firstly yoga is not just about flexibility. It is about creating a mind body connection which for many of us we do not have. It is learning to be grounded so that we can fully reef the benefits of life.

Flexibility comes from doing yoga asana(postures) and then helps to prevent physical aliments in the body. When I started doing yoga many years ago I could no way touch my toes!!

Flexibility comes with practice and not being hard on yourself

Yoga will help you get fit so even if you are not fit please do not get put off. Yoga encourages you to take each posture at your own pace, listening to your bodily intelligence. Do not worry if the person next to you is super fit and super flexible, we focus on our mats, connecting with our body.

Its a great time to start! There are different levels of classes available to suit.

Each style has a slightly different structure and emphasis, please click on style below to learn more:

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Hatha Yoga

Prenatal Yoga

Mother & Baby Yoga

Toddler & Preschool Yoga

Vinyasa Flow is tradionally a faster style of yoga, each posture moves into the next, synchronised with breath. Whereas Hatha is a slightly slower style of yoga, there is more time spent in relaxation and with breath work.

Booking is essential in order to secure your place. Some classes book out very quickly.

You have 2 options, you can either stay at the same level and ensure you have the fundamentals correct. This can be hugely beneficial if you have already found this class challenging.  Yoga is not competitive and about levels we encourage you to always work within your comfort range, never pushing yourself to the point that you may injury

However if you felt very comfortable at this stage and ready for another challenge you can move to Level 2.

It is worth discussing with Hazel what she suggests is the next best step.

The key is to allows listen to your body and do what feels right for you.

Please be comfortable and wear whatever you like.  Clothes similar to what you would wear to the gym or exercising is perfect.

Vinyasa classes are a little more heated so you may prefer more breathable clothes. For the other classes again comfortable clothes that you feel comfortable to stretch in are perfect.

The joy of practicing from home though is that you can be your pjs if you like!!

Comfortable clothes, similar to what you would wear to the gym or excercing for the Vinyasa class as it is a little more heated. For the other classes again comfortable clothes that you feel comfortable to stretch in.

Absolutely, in almost all the classes(bar Prenatal and Mother & Baby!!!) we have a good number of men

I believe there is a different style for everyone:

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Hatha Yoga

Prenatal Yoga

Mother & Baby Yoga

Toddler & Preschool Yoga

I always suggest giving yoga a proper go and trying to not miss a class and waiting to hold judgement until you have completed an 8 week course. I am sure you will be hooked!!

Please discuss any injuries with Hazel and we can decide whether you are safe to do yoga.

To start I would suggest practicing at least twice a week to get the full benefit of the practice.  If possible as many times as you like.  It is advisable to take one day break throughout the week.  There are many different length of classes to suit your time, energy and mood.

You are safe to practice Pregnancy Yoga after 14 week

We suggest doing Mother & Baby Yoga until around 6 months post natally.  At this stage we will show you modifications that are safe. We encourage honouring the postnatal body, building up strength inside first before you work on exterior.

You should see progress within a couple of weeks but it depends on the individual.  Also if you practice at home this will speed up your progress.

This is a traditional part of a yoga class performed at the very end of class.  We place our hands in prayer and bow..  The direct translation is ‘I bow to the divine in you’.

Regular yoga practice can influence weight loss, but not in the “traditional” sense of how we link physical activity to weight loss. Typically, weight loss occurs when a person’s calorie intake (i.e., food and drink consumed) is less than their caloric expenditure (i.e., energy is expended all day and more is expended during exercise).

Most individuals need to change both their energy intake and energy expenditure to lose weight.

Many yoga practices burn fewer calories than traditional exercise (e.g., jogging, brisk walking); however, yoga can increase one’s mindfulness and the way one relates to their body. So, individuals will become more aware of what they are eating and make better food choices.

Vinyasa Yoga is one of the best styles of yoga for burning fat.  There are also specific classes in the class library sections that focus on loosing weight and toning certain areas of our body.
